Municipal Waste Landfill (Landfill #2)

The Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority (NTSWA) owns and operates a state of the art landfill in West Burlington Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Landfill #2 is situated on an 88.3 acre tract of land. On September 8, 2011, NTSWA acquired 26 acres from the Pa Game Commission for the purpose of future expansion. Landfill #2 is also home of NTSWA's Central Office. The NTSWA employs strict environmental controls as part of their commitment to the environment. NTSWA works toward taking environmental initiatives today that will have the most positive future impact on the communities in which we live.

Landfill #2 accepts the following wastes for disposal according to DEP guidelines:

  • Municipal Solid Waste
  • Residual Waste
  • Asbestos Contaminated Wastes
  • Contaminated Soil
  • Sewage Sludge

Leachate treatment, landfill gas management, wood grinding and tire shredding operations are also conducted on-site.

The landfill is operated according to standard landfill practices. It is double lined with 60 mil HDPE liner material and all wastes are weighed on approved on-site truck scales prior to disposal. Wastes are covered daily with either screened dirt or approved cover material. A litter control system is set in place to control blowing litter. Groundwater monitoring occurs on a quarterly basis according to permit conditions. NTSWA’s Recyclable Processing Center is located on site, adjacent to the landfill.

Monday - Friday: 8:00am-4:00pm
Saturday: 8:00am-12noon
