What do I do with unwanted Paint Products?
The Northern Tier Solid Waste Authority (NTSWA) operates a program for collection\ recycling of materials considered to be household hazardous waste. These products have the potential to be toxic, corrosive, reactive, and\or flammable. While they are not regulated as hazardous waste because of their small quantity, they could cause potential harms at home, while being transported for disposal, and\or at the landfill sites. NTSWA accepts the following useable paint related materials at two Recyclable Processing Centers located at the Landfill sites in Bradford and Tioga Counties. (See Landfill Operations) They are used in a Paint Exchange Program and are given to other residents who may need paint.Un-useable paint materials, which have been frozen or are hardened should be disposed of as regular trash. It will not be accepted at the Paint Exchange. See below for disposal tips.
To utilize the NTSWA Paint Exchange, please contact the appropriate site prior to delivery to make an appointment. These materials should be carefully transported to the Recycling Centers. All cans must be tightly sealed and not leaking. To deliver materials to the Site in West Burlington Township, Bradford County, contact the NTSWA Central Office at 570/297-4177. To deliver materials to the Hamilton Township Facility, Tioga County, contact 570/638-2107.
